Jessi Vining
Jessi Vining is an American student midwife pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Midwifery from Midwives College of Utah (2018) and her midwifery license from the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM).
She is also the owner/operator of Desert Blooms, LLC. Currently, she works under the direct supervision of Dr. Hanaa Kassem, offering support and care for the doctor's clients, as well as taking on her own primary midwifery clients at Mum's Haven.
Jessi first entered birth work in 2011 as a birth doula. She then began working as a midwife's assistant, working with and learning from 9 different midwives over a 4 year time-period. Since 2011, Jessi has attended over 140 births in the capacities of birth doula, midwife's assistant and student midwife.
She has experience with home birth, hospital birth, and water birth. She is an AMANI certified birth doula, and is also certified with the Oklahoma Midwives Alliance as a monitrice. She is certified in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and has taken advanced training in Birth Emergency Skills (BEST workshop 2013).
Jessi also has specialized training and experience working with survivors of sexual, physical and emotional abuse and offers consults to expecting parents to prepare for and avoid triggers during their childbearing year. She also occasionally offers two different childbirth education classes: AMANI Birth and Mum's Haven childbirth classes. Jessi is also a placenta encapsulation specialist with 3 years of experience.
Jessi's passion is to provide culturally competent and respectful care to clients who may not have access to many birthplace or care provider options. She has a heart for fostering inter-faith and inter-cultural relationships, and believes that supporting families is a natural way to help create diverse and supportive communities.
She loves caring for women during labor and birth, and enjoys teaching parents about the birth and parenting process.
